A specific gauge/tension is not required. As with most toys, you want a fabric that is firm without holes so the stuffing doesn’t peek through. Therefor any size of yarn is usable for this pattern, as long as you use a correspondingly sized hook. I usually go down 2 sizes from what the yarn suggests. The thinner the yarn/smaller the hook, the smaller your finished Pentapod will be. A worsted weight Pentapod will fit wonderfully in one hand. Thread or fingering weight could lead to a keychain sized friend.

Materials:
Approximately 50 yards of worsted weight yarn.
Size G hook (4mm) or size needed to create a firm fabric.
Small amount of stuffing.
Safety eyes or felt or contrasting yarn to embroider knots.
Yarn Needle

This project uses the magic ring technique which is a simple but wonderful way to start a toy/amigurumi.
If you are unfamiliar with this technique I highly recommend the PlanetJune website. She has wonderful videos and photo tutorials for both left and right hand crocheters.

My deepest thanks go out to Juleeque and My6angels for testing this pattern and to Emily for inspiring it.
