Peponi is a shawl-shaped scarf – mimicking a slice of melon, the dent at the top wraps perfectly around the neck and the tapered ends are tied easily at the front. It is knit from the top down, so you can make it longer or shorter as needed to use up every last bit of that favorite skein of sock yarn, or any weight of yarn you please!

Worked mostly in Cellular Stitch, a simple 3-stitch, 4-row lace pattern, Peponi opens up into an even simpler lace edging and a crochet-like bind off, which creates pretty “wings” that hang down in the front. The overall effect is that of a light, frothy scarf, but in a Merino wool, Peponi will still keep you warm.
