Perky Plaid. These two-color Dale’s style socks were inspired by cheerful gingham tablecloths, quilt blocks and Scottish knitted and crocheted family heirlooms. They were designed in 2011 for the first child of a vivacious, dear friend.

Design Features. These full-featured, cuff-down, knitted socks incorporate corrugated ribbing, stranded colorwork, the Dale plaid, a heel flap, and a kitchener toe. The infant sock pattern comes in four sizes:
A 0-6 months B 6-12 months C 12-24 months and D 24 months (tall).

The pattern includes color charts, photographs, written instructions and summary tables of dimensions, needles and stitch counts, abbreviations, and sock anatomy.

Use needles 2.25 mm - 3.0 mm, depending on what you need to achieve gauge. One size of needle may be used for sizes A and B and another for C & D. Some people prefer to use two sizes of needle for a sock: a smaller size needle for the heels and toes and a larger one for the body.

The pattern has an appendix of color photo tutorials which are supplemented by detailed web tutorials for knitting socks in the round with two circular needles: http://monicaknits.com/ .
