Named for the frozen soil of the far north, the seed stitch on this hat mimics the frozen earth while the slipped cable rib is reminiscent of the scraggly pine trees that grow in such soil.

Yarn: 130(140, 145) yd 119(128, 132.5)m worsted weight wool

Needles: 7 US 4.5 mm 16 in. 40.6 cm circular and a set of dpns in the same size, or whatever size needles you need to get gauge

Gauge: 5 sts and 7 rows/in. 2.5 cm in stockingnet stitch

Sizes: S(M, L), 21(22, 23) in. 53(56, 58.5 cm head
