I used contrasting colors to emphasize the spiraling flower edgings applied to the front of this top, and I think it would be exquisite in more subtle colors, too. The base of the top is worked in mesh from corner to corner with diagonal increases and decreases. The ruffled edging is worked right into the base fabric, starting with the widest row from corner to corner. This technique would be fantastic on a pillow or for tiered edging along the bottom few inches of a skirt or triangular shawl.
