Petal Bonnet

Knitting
September 2013
Worsted / 10 ply (9 wpi) ?
22 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
US 5 - 3.75 mm
306 - 456 yards (280 - 417 m)
Approx age preemie (newborn, 3 mos, 6 mos, 1 yr)

All babies make me think of flower buds, and the unique edging on this top-down bonnet makes lovely “petals” to frame a little face.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Length around face opening (from tie to tie) 8 9, 9.75, 10.5, 11.25“/20 22.5, 24.5, 26.5, 28cm

(NOTE: Babies’ heads vary greatly in size, and the sizes in this pattern reflect the 50th percentile values for girls from the CDC’s 2000 study. This chart is used by health care providers in the US & Canada. That said, I urge you to look at your family’s general head size, and when in doubt, knit a larger size. Babies grow!)
