Petticoat with Detail

This pattern is available for free.

This petticoat is on page 65 of The Art of Knitting published in 1892. It calls for Germantown wool on coarse steel or medium-sized bone needles. It has cables and eyelets and is knitted in strips then sewn together and attached to a fabric yoke. No pattern is given for the yoke and the length and number of strips are left to the discretion of the knitter.

There is an error in row four that does not account for the cables. It should be Slip 1 Knit 13 Purl 4 Knit 28 Purl 4 Knit 14 so that the cable stitches are purled on the wrong side.
