This is the perfect cozy, slouchy, live-in-me-all-winter cardigan. It is warm in all the right places without being too hot everywhere else. The simple lace pattern gives just enough personality without being too tricky to work up.

This design is worked from the top down. First, you will work the neck lapel in turned rows. Then, the work is turned and stitches are picked up along the row ends to establish the yoke. Simple raglan shaping is used for the yoke. The sleeves are then split off and the lower body is worked straight until the bottom ribbing. The sleeves are worked in the round after completing the body. Finally, the pockets are worked separately and seamed on after blocking.

The fit of this cardigan is meant to be oversized and cozy. The length falls well past the hips with sleeves that reach the base of the fingers. If that isn’t your style, you can make your cardigan shorter in length on the body and sleeves; you will use roughly 10 - 15% less yarn than recommended.

This is a trans accessible design. It includes a fitting tips so that your cardigan fits your frame comfortably. You matter to me. You deserve knits you’re excited about!

Sizes: Extra Small (Small, Medium, Large) (Extra Large, 2X Large, 3X Large) (4X Large, 5X Large, 6X Large) to fit a bust measurement up to 30” (34”, 38”, 42”) (46”, 50”, 54”) (58”, 62”, 66”)/76 (86.5, 96.5, 106.5) (117, 127, 137) (147.5, 157.5, 167.5) cm.

Note that this design features 2”- 4”/5 - 10 cm of positive ease (when including the lapel).

Yarn: 1075 (1250, 1450, 1675) (1925, 2200, 2475) (2775, 3075, 3375) yards/975 (1150, 1325, 1525) (1775, 2025, 2275) (2550, 2825, 4000) meters of DK weight yarn.

Sample shown in Wolfy Wool handdyed 4 Ply DK colorway Ectoplasm.

I recommend yarn with no silk or alpaca content for this design. Due to the lack of seaming, this cardigan is going to tend to slouch as it is. Adding silk or alpaca to the mix would exaggerate that effect.

Needles: Size US 7/4.5 mm circular needle with a long (40”/100 cm) cable, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 16 stitches and 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in Lacy Rib pattern (blocked); roughly 20 stitches and 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch (unblocked).

Notions: 1 double-point needle (1 – 2 sizes smaller than the gauge needles), 6 stitch markers, waste yarn or spare circular needles of an equal or smaller size, rinse-free wool wash, blocking mat, wires (optional), and t-pins.

Techniques: Knitting in the round, picking up stitches, and basic lace.
