I’ve had this pattern in my head for a while. I shamelessly borrowed from Barbara Walker for the spider and added a snake to make this cowl a wearable piece of art called “Phobia”. Wear the buttoned edge at the front, side, or even at the back of your neck. This is really quite stunning and has caused a stir at my yarn shop. The cowl measures about 18” around when the piece has the buttons sewn in place (the buttons are sewn through both layers of the cowl - there are no buttonholes, this cowl is slipped over your head).

I chose Malabrigo Worsted Merino since it is ultra soft and this shade conveys the message of name of the cowl. It’s a bit gloomy and dramatic.

This pattern is not for the beginner knitter.
