I named this the Phoenix Wings shawl, because the vertical stripes resemble feathers, while the color-changing yarn I used puts me in mind of a warm fire, or a sunset.

The shawl is crocheted sideways, from the pointy end. The shawl is worked in a combination of black and self-striping yarn. The stripes in black yarn are worked in dc and the stripes in self-striping yarn are worked in double dtr groups.
