With scrunchies having cemented their fashion comeback,
they make the perfect bite-sized projects to use up stray
skeins. This pattern offers three style variations. Short on
time? Make one. Feeling generous? Make all three.

Each style variation comes in three sizes, from a skinny
subtle scrunchie to full 1980s pouf. Vanilla is worked around
the long circumference in plain stockinette with a decorative
bind off . Gridlines is worked the same way, with a colorwork
pattern and invisible join. Colorblock is worked in stockinette
around the short circumference, with an invisible join.

Finished scrunchies wrap twice or three times around an
adult ponytail on straight hair. Cut elastic 1” shorter for
child-size hair elastic, and 1” longer for especially thick
hair or to be gentle on curls.
