Picnic Day knitting pattern includes two cute skirt sets that can be easily mixed and matched with other clothing.

Set 1: Top- The front and the back are knitted separately with a side seam and shoulder closure. Extra stitches are cast on to create the shoulder straps which fasten with a button on each side. The skirt has a back seam with a ribbon or I- cord draw through the eyelet rows at the waist. You can leave the skirt with the pattern stitch or
follow the instructions to add the smocking on the skirt.

Set 2: Top back and front knit as a single piece with a 3 button front closure until the division for the underarms. Extra stitches are cast on to create the shoulder straps which fasten with a button on each side. The skirt knits as a single piece with a 3 button front closure. You can leave the skirt with the pattern stitch or follow the
instructions to add the smocking on the skirt.

To add an extra touch, instructions for a hair tie are included.

Stitches used: knit, purl, YO, skp, kf&b and knit 2 together.

This PDF Knitting Pattern is designed to fit 18” dolls such as American Girl®.

Recommended Yarn: Any DK (Double knit) or Weight 3 yarn that will give you the appropriate gauge. Samples used Stylecraft® Special Double Knit (Bright Pink, White, and Mustard colorways.)

Main Color - 48 grams = 154.3 yards / 141.1 m
Contrast Color - 12 grams = 38.6 yards / 35.5 m

Set 2:

Main Color - 54 grams = 173.6 yards / 158.8 m
Contrast Color - 12 grams = 38.6 yards / 35.5 m

Other supplies:

Straight or circular knitting needles size US 4 (3.50 mm).
Circular knitting needles size US 4 (3.50 mm) for the top of set 1.
DPNS size US 4 (3.50 mm) x 2 for the I–Cord.
3/8’’ Wide buttons x 2 for set 1 and 8 for set 2.
Row counter or a pencil to tick off the rows as you knit.
Tapestry + ordinary sewing needle.
Small scissors.
Ruler or tape measure.
