Pidoca-short for “Piper’s doily cardi”-is worked in the round from the center out, with afterthought sleeves worked later, top-down and in the round. Sleeve ribbing is extra long, to grow w/the child.

This cardi has not been test-knit. I have made every effort to produce a correct pattern. I would appreciate your comments!!! Enjoy making this for your princess!

Cardi is based on a free doily from Yarnover.net , and a Barbara Walker insertion.

june 2011 errata: (thank you kespencer!) first doily bugs:

a. do not work a R22. just jump from 21 to 23. keep calling R23 by its number, even though it is now the 22nd R, just to avoid mix-ups in the rest of the chart.
b.R34 of the chart is missing a purl stitch at the end, but the text does include it. so double check and add to your chart.
c. it has been suggested that on R21 the marker should follow the k3tog. i have not yet checked this.

past the doily:
a. R37, change to “k18,p1, rep. from
b. after R44, insert R “44b”, a plain k R. then cont. to R45.
c. R55 to 61 are correct.(seed st worked in round)
d. R58 math is off. replace with:
$( (yo,ssk)5 times, (yo, k1)once )9times, then yo,k1. now repeat from $ once. gives 220 sts on needles. (the $ sign replaces the standard star symbol which is impossible to use on ravelry posts ).
e. R62-69 are correct (tho’ unusual at first glance) and yield garter st worked in round.
f. R70-100 are correct and yield garter lace. This ensures a reversible “collar” and a non-roll edge.

july 14 2011: see comments from user RogueKnit, re marker on R21. july 16: R 42 is correct, but i forgot to mention “repeat from asterisk to end” after the second “work 3 tog”.

Note, feb. 2024: i just noticed that the doily link expired. I have no idea why. You can now find it on ravelry as “small doily” by mizi donner and carl schnebel.
