The piece of cake cowl is one of my responses to what to do with handspun art yarn. You can combine commercial and handspun yarn to stretch the budget and the yardage constraint that may come with working with handspun. The cowl is divided into two layers: cake and filling. Select a solid and complementary color for the cake layers; I suggest super bulky wool/wool blends. For the filling layers, that’s when handspun comes into play. Use full or partial skeins, but opt for the crazy funky yarns to introduce a change in texture between the two layers. The accompanying PDF pattern includes video tutorials for enhanced guidance. Creating this project with bulky weight yarn ensures a quick pattern.
