“Pinafore kilt” in double knitting to be worn with or without a matching sweater underneath (directions for sweater are in the same issue).

Three sizes, to fit 34-39 inch bust. For dresses, 1960s Stitchcraft assumes a hip size 2 inches larger than bust size.

Written directions call for skirt front and back, then upper body front and back to all be knitted separately and then sewn together.

Gauge is 5 1/2 sts and 7 1/2 rows to the inch on UK 8 (4mm) needles in (1967) Patons Double Knitting. The pattern calls for 14/15/15 1 oz balls of Woodland Green 1171 and 13/13/13 balls Gobelin Green 271.

Additional materials: two buttons for strap fastenings and 3/4 yd facing ribbon to keep straps from stretching.
