For the coaster-size, the designer suggested to use Cebelia #20 and hook 1.25 mm.

For the doily-size, I used cotton thread #10 and hook 1.65 mm (No. 7), which gave me an 8-inch doily. Only a few yards of cotton thread are required. A very easy pattern to follow and fun too, and suitable for a beginner crocheter with some experience since the treble stitch is used; excellent to practice the treble stitch.

Errata : At round 9, a ch 2 is missing next to the pineapple.
