Also needed is 84” of 1/4” satin ribbon.

Yardage is only an estimate. In the materials list the publisher printed how much yardage for both the cotton and the satin ribbon is needed to make the entire collection. At the end of the pattern there is a note that even though the valance is 72” across, extra ribbon is needed for the weave.

Due to width of valance and a beg ch length of 583 chs to complete a total of 98 shells, it is much easier to work with 2 balls of cotton.

If you choose to work with only 1 ball, work a beg ch of 586 and beg in 4th ch from hook.

There may be an error in this pattern. Row 7 reads: Shell in shell, ch 2, V-st in single dc, ch 2, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 2, shell in shell, ch 2, V-st in single dc, ch 2, shell in shell, rep from across, turn.

I believe it should read: Shell in shell, ch 2, V-st in single dc, ch 2, shell in shell, ch 2, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 2, shell in shell, ch 2, V-st in single dc, ch 2, shell in shell, rep from across, turn.
