Pink Pirate is a crochet shawl worked side to side starting from the top edge. The polka dots stitch pattern uses spike sc stitches. You will find an explanation of how to work these stitches on page 2.

Each color is worked for two rows, then secured and brought closer to the next row’s starting position by working the new color over the dropped color. You will not need to cut the yarn.

This shawl is also part of a two-pattern bundle, Polka Dot Moods.

Materials:

  • Yarn: Sock by Malabrigo, light fingering/3 ply, 100% merino, 440yd (402m) per 100g skein, 1 skein each of shades 857 Light of Love and 063 Natural
  • Regular crochet hook: US E (3.5mm)
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends

Finished Size (blocked):
50” (127cm) wingspan, 19” (48.25cm) height

Approximate blocked gauge:
Each repeat is about 2.5” (6.35cm) wide and 1” (2.5cm) tall

Gauge is not crucial for this design. The size of the shawl can be adjusted by making a shorter or longer base row. Bear in mind that if your gauge is different than the stated, your yardage requirements and finished dimensions will change.
