Piquant is a crescent shaped crocheted shawl work in one piece using a single precious skein. This shawl has a very interesting construction. I designed it to avoid long starting chains. This shawl is very easy and quick to do and has a breathtaking result. Instruction come in 2 sizes, small and large, but you can easily adjust the size.

This pattern comes with row-by-row written direction in US crochet term and charts.

Yarn: Rendezvous Yarn 100% Merino Superwash (Teal color) light fingering weight 1 skein (100g, 490 yards) for small size. You need 2 skeins for large size. See yarn usage percentage for each part in page 2.
Note: The sample in green is small size, in plum color is large size. I used 1x100 gram yarn and had 15 gram leftover for the small size and used 2x100 gram yarn and had 35 gram leftover for the large size. I am a very tight crocheter, please prepare more yarn.

Hook: 3.75 mm (F) (adjust hook size accordingly if you use thicker yarn)

Notions: Removable stitch markers for crochet

Gauge: You need about 250 cm of yarn to make Part A rows 1- 3.

So, you need to measure your yarn about 2.5 meter or 2.75 yards. No need to cut the yarn, just mark it.
With this 2.75 yards yarn, you try to crochet the first 3 rows of part A.
If you need more than 2.75 yards to crochet the first 3 rows, it means you need more yarn than the yarn requirement.
If you need less than 2.75 yards to crochet the first 3 rows, it means you need less yarn than the yarn requirement.
Or you can adjust your hook size to meet the gauge.

I know this kind of gauge is different than usual. The reason why I “invented” this kind of gauge is because for shawl, size doesn’t matters or not so crucial. What matters is that you have enough yarn.

Finished Size: 128 cm (50.4”) wingspan and 35 cm (13.8”) depth.
