NB: You might find the patterns, and the photos in the book produce slightly different projects. If you want your hats to look exactly as the samples I knitted in the, photographs, then here are the changes that book made in instructions:

  1. Worked as shown in the charts in the book, the charts have the same skull throughout. The samples I knitted however, show that one skull has a 3 stitch mouth/smile, and one skull has a one stitch mouth/blowing a kiss. Use the photo as a guide if you want the same.

  2. Photos show 2 rnds of CC border either side of the skulls band, but the instructions and charts in the book only show that for the Red hat and omit it on the Teal Hat…if following the Teal Hat…then use the Red Hat chart

  3. Photos samples I knitted have a two-toned striped cord on the crown…the instructions are for a randomly coloured cord with no striping. To knit a striped cord when you make your loop of yarn put one of the 2 shades at each end with all the knots in the centre before twisting the whole loop, after twisting allow one colour to twist around another. Unless you prefer a random cord,

Errata: On the original project first decrease on the crown reads
K19, K2tog…..as this will reduce the sts from 84 sts to 80 sts, then the rest of the crown is decreased in the normal way. However, in the book version, it reads
K9, K2tog....this is wrong, 11 does not fit into 84, so ignore that.
