This is a fundraising pattern for my late brother, Mino (1971-2004).

One of my Ravelry group members asked me if I could design something with leftover bits and pieces. “Sure, I could do that.”

With a method that I learned from another group member, I made my own gradient yarn. Therefore, no weaving in the ends! You are turning all the leftover skeins into a one of a kind shawl on your own. Random color changes and systematic eyelet rows will save you from boredom. The asymmetrical triangle shape allows you to stop wherever you want.

As long as you don’t mind weaving in the ends, you may add stripes or do whatever color play you want. it is a “recipe” after all.

Skills required: k, k2tog, kfb, p, ssk, yo

The pattern includes an instruction on “how to prepare your own gradient yarn” with step by step pictures.

You may use any weight of yarn and knit in any size you want.

All the proceeds of this pattern will be donated to the Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Australian National University. My late brother, Minoru Hokari (“Mino” 1971-2004) died of cancer at the age of 32. The scholarship fund supports young scholars who study Indigenous Australians through fieldwork. We are trying to fully fund it to achieve its perpetuity. Please help.

Please visit Being Connected with HOKARI MINORU to meet Mino.
