Errata:
Row 21 should read: (p2, C2B, p4, C2F, p2), repeat to end of row.

Gauge: 10 stitches & 14 rows in stockinette = 3 inches

This richly textured cabled hat is the perfect weapon to fend off chills on bitter cold winter days! The hat features an elegant multi-dimensional 10-stitch cable repeat and thick bulky Peruvia wool to cover your ears and keep your head nice and toasty.

Sizing: This pattern knits up an adult’s cabled hat. It should fit heads measuring 21-24 inches (measured horizontally around head at top of ear). The un-stretched hat measures 10.5 inches across, or about 21 inches in circumference, but is very stretchy. To add length but not circumference to the hat, for example to cover a larger head’s ears, the easiest adjustment is to add 1-3 rows of extra ribbing to the bottom of the hat. To make a slightly smaller hat, try using size 10-1/2 needles instead of the size 11 used here.

Yarn: Berroco Peruvia Quick (103 yards/94 meters, 100 grams/ 3.53 ounces)

Notions: Ribbing is knit on US Size 9 needles, 16” circular. Cabled portion of hat is knit on size 11 dpns (16” circular, and set of four dpns for closing top of hat). Tapestry needle, Cable needle.

Gauge: 10 stitches and 14 rows measures 3 inches in stockinette using size 9 needles.

Update: 12/31/2010
This pattern was updated to include the corrected amount of stitches to cast on (cast on 80, not 90 as the original pattern indicated), and the correct number of stitches in the cable repeat (16 stitches).

Update 1/7/2011
This pattern was updated to correct two errors:
-There is a “ (C2Bp, C2Fp), repeat from to end of row, between rows 15 and 16
-On row 7, the row should read:
(p2, C2B, p4, C2F, p2), repeat from * to end of row.
The current pattern download includes these corrections.
