Mystery Christmas sock pattern:

Please don’t publish pictures before Christmas.

This pattern is easier to follow if you have knitted a pair of toe-up socks with afterthought heel and stranded colorwork previously. The sock has a normal to loose fit if you have enough slack in your floats on the back. The colorwork section uses two contrasting colors of fingering sock yarn. It is rather simple because there are only a few places where you need to catch the floats

About this pattern
During Christmas 2019 this pattern is a Mystery sock pattern to reduced price. After Christmas the design will be revealed and the price goes up.

You will get one clue before you buy the pattern: Even if the knitted Eight Petal Rose resembles a Poinsettia it got it’s name “rose” from the time when the classification of flowers was either Lilies or Roses. That was before Carl von Linné introduced a wider range of families.

These socks are inspired by Norwegian Selbu patterns. This pattern, though, is my own design and it doesn’t have any connection to Selbu’s historical patterns. I have lived and worked in Norway where fortunately there has always been a tradition of knitting which still inspires my design work. While living there I was never the only knitter in the room and there was always possibility to buy Norwegian wool in every little ski resort I visited when exploring the beautiful country.

To Ravelry Editors: Pictures are coming up during Christmas as the Mystery is revealed.
