Gauge does not really matter for the pattern.

This all started last year when I was walking over to the barn at Black Sheep Gathering (a large fiber festival in Eugene, OR) and a lady walked up and asked me if I was participating in the Spinner’s Lead. The Spinner’s Lead is a show where people wear their handspun handknit garment while they lead around an animal that represents the fiber that the garment is made out of. She told me how to enter and this year I was looking around my closet at all the knitted things and wondered what I could enter. I spotted this scarf and knew that it was perfect. The reason why this scarf is named Polka Dot’s scarf is because that is the name of the Merino sheep that I borrowed to lead. Polka Dot was very nevous but she did great and that is why this scarf is named after her.
