Pompeii, the ancient Italian city, is known not only for being buried in ash from a volcanic eruption, but also for the exquisite mosaic works that were unearthed centuries later. A couple of years ago I had the incredible opportunity to see these mosaics and they are nothing short of breathtaking. While designing this hat using the mosaic knitting technique I couldn’t help but think back to those beautiful mosaics of Pompeii - hence the name of our latest pattern.

This pattern includes both written and charted directions for the mosaic pattern.
