A fresh take on variegated yarn, the Pooled Infinity Scarf works with the pooling properties of Intrepid Tulips yarns to create a unique pattern and a warm fashion statement.

This scarf works up quickly in the round, knit in stockinette with a simple picot edge for interest. Most any Intrepid Tulips (or Fiber Optica) Sock or Cashmere Sock with distinct color changes will work for this pattern: Sweden, Chile, Ukraine, etc.

Color pooling (or barber poling) is dependent on the way a variegated yarn was dyed and on the knitter’s gauge. It is important to pay attention to the way your yarn colors “stack” (or don’t) throughout this project. Not to worry – tiny adjustments are easily made and can keep your Pooled Infinity Scarf on track, but you will likely find that you need to watch your knitting much more closely than for a typical piece in stockinette.

This is a rather different style of knitting. You will pay much less attention to the pattern, and more attention to the colored yarn moving through your fingers than you often might. In some rounds, the colors will make some surprise leaps, only to return to the “plan” in the next round. This process of letting the yarn lead you through the pattern creates the unique and stunning scarf that results.
