Pattern from Needlework Unlimited for the 2014 Minnesota Yarn Shop Hop inspired by fun summer activities at Lake Harriet.

Bobbles are meant to be placed randomly throughout the increase and decrease patterns. You may make as many or as few bobbles as you like. They can be placed on one side or both sides of the work (and it’s easy to switch which side they’re on).

A fun interpretation is to start out by adding the bobbles infrequently and slowly increase how often you place bobbles — just like cooking popcorn: it starts out with a few pops and increases as the popcorn heats up.
