(As seen at STITCHES Midwest 2013) This is a heart-shaped shawl, which adds a glossy touch of elegance to that little black dress at dinner or the theatre. It can be wrapped across the front and tied at the waist “Sontag”-style for a clean silhouette; alternatively, tie the ends in front, or fling them back across your shoulders and fasten with a sturdy shawl pin or pedestal button.
In the BMFA BFL Sport (shown in muted shades), you have a slightly larger, cosy wrap for working, spinning, playing an instrument or just reading a good book.

Shawl is knit from the top down, with double increases on each side creating the long tails that allow the shawl to wrap around the body without bunching at the neck.

The picot bind-off will most likely require a few extra yards of Colour A; alternatively, you can use your favourite stretchy bind-off.

ERRATUM: The written instructions for row 89 should end with:“… k to last 3 sts, yo, k1, yo, k2”. The chart is correct.
