This beautiful shawl features a traditional Portuguese lace pattern that was found and recorded by Barbara G. Walker in 1970. This historical lace pattern is called: renda in Portugal.

The two-sided lace border is fairly easy to knit and looks absolutely fabulous!

Knit this shawl in almost any weight yarn, fingering, sport, DK or worsted. Instructions for each yarn weight are included in the pattern.

The shawl is casted on at the top and stitches are increased as the shawl grows in size. Once the body is finished, the lace edging is knit onto the live stitches and is worked horizontally along the bottom.
