Preemies often have teeny-tiny feet that only fit into teeny-tiny socks. Their feet need to be kept warm, and socks made for bigger babies won’t stay on. These socks are knit in a ribbed pattern so they stay on and so that the socks can stretch.

Materials:

A set of US Size 5 (3.75mm) DPNs
Approximately 60-75 yards of worsted weight yarn
A tapestry or yarn needle for weaving in ends

Your pair of preemie socks do not need heels (you can just knit a pair of tube socks), however if you would like to put a heel in, I recommend purchasing the Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern by Sox Therapist on Ravelry. It is a $1.00 pattern. You can also put in any heel method that you want.
