This patten can be adjusted by simply making it longer just remember to make the chains for the top of the hat longer as well. And making as many rows as you need to make it the width you want.

This pattern is for a medium size preemie. About a 3-4 pound baby but I have made it bigger simple by increasing length and width.

Row 1-- Ch 20, DC in third chain from hook and in each chain across. Ch 10. Turn.

Row 2-- sl st in each ch and into the first DC, ch 2, (DC in back loop only here and through out.) 1 DC in each st across. ch 2, turn

Row 3-- 1 DC in each st across. ch 10. Turn.

Repeat row 2 and 3 till there are 20 rows. Fold hat in half and sew seam. Close the top taking care to keep your “Jester Chains” sticking out the top. Weave in ends.

Attatch yarn to any stitch at the base of hat. Ch 3, 2 DC over each of the first DC at the end of each row join in the top of ch 3. Next round ch 3, fpdc round the next st, bpdc round the next st, repeat from around. Join. Fasten off and weave in the end.
