Winner of the Malabrigo March 2008 “Best Original Design” contest!

Prickle is a moebius cowl designed for Malabrigo March, and worked from the equator outwards, in one piece, using the Moebius Cast-On made famous by Cat Bordhi. (Detailed directions for the Moebius Cast-On are not included in the pattern, but links to online resources are provided.)

The cowl is knit in a reversible lace pattern known as Porcupine Stitch, hence the name of the pattern: the proper collective noun for a group of porcupines is a “prickle”--“a prickle of porcupines.” The pattern also includes fun porcupine facts :)

The cowl is finished with a sideways edging knitted onto the live stitches to bind them off. Two options are provided: a plain garter-stitch edging (shown in white Noro Silk Garden, 2 skeins, and Red Mahogany Malabrigo, 1 skein) and a reversible garter stitch-based lace edging (shown in Fucsia Malabrigo, 1 skein, and lavender Berroco Ultra Alpaca, 1 skein).
