Knit a lovely princess doll for fairy-tale fans of any age. With her sparkling tiara and rose-trimmed gown, she’s ready for the ball – but her sturdy boots and warm cape mean you can take her out on all kinds of adventures.

This is an enjoyable knit for improvers. Using some fairly simple stitches we’ll be creating contours, borders and lace patterning. As with all Snoo’s Knits dolls, we’ll be using techniques to make the doll in the smallest number of pieces possible. The head, arms, bodice, drawers, legs and shoes are all made in one go. We’ll then add the skirts, hair and rose ornaments.

The doll was created to match the Snoo’s Knits unicorn and the skirts are designed so that she can ride a horse. The legs are slim and softly-stuffed so that she can also sit or stand. Choose your own colours and trimmings to personalise your princess. What will you name her?

You will need:
• Wool: 50g dark pink, 20g golden-yellow, 10g of other colours listed below. I used Double Knit (8-6 ply, “light worsted”.) Tension square: 10cm x 10cm square is 24 stitches across and 32 rows.
• Knitting needles – I used UK size 11 (3.0mm, US size 2.5) for the doll and UK size 8 (4.0mm, US size 6) for the cloak and skirts.
• Blunt sewing needle with an eye big enough to thread your wool through
• Two toy safety-eyes, or small amount of wool to embroider eyes
• Stuffing
• Three stitch-holders / safety-pins / spare needles
• Three shank buttons plus needle and thread to attach

Stitches used: kfb, k2tog, p2tog, yfwd, sl1k, sl1k, sl1k1psso, sl1k2togpsso
