This pattern is for a ribbed cowl inspired by the jewelled collar worn by the royalty of ancient Egypt. Worked inside out from the top down, this cowl has a turtleneck or a low neck option. The rib widens to flare out at the base of the neck. There are two length options: a short length that covers just the neck; or a long length that also covers the shoulders.

Small (Large). The finished circumference, at the narrowest point, is

Worsted or aran weight yarn. Wool is recommended.
