This hat pattern was inspired by Princess Poppy and Branch (okay, it was really inspired by my desire to not dye my daughter’s hair hot pink and gel it straight up so she could look like Poppy…), but you can really use this pattern to make any old kind of Troll hat you want! (I have visions of rainbow hair…)

This Pattern PDF is written with a confident beginner in mind, and I have tried to include as many photos as I can to help you make the best Princess Poppy or Branch hat that you can!
Basic skills needed include knitting and purling, knitting in the round on DPNs, and simple increases and decreases.

The pattern includes instructions for making the hats in 5 sizes - 0-6 mos all the way up to Adult. The amount of yarn needed varies, but in general, this hat requires 60-120 yards of worsted weight yarn for the hat, and about double that amount for the hair. Princess Poppy also requires green yarn and 2 colors of felt to complete her look. You will also need a needle and thread and a soft bristle hair brush.

I am always happy to try and answer any questions for you as you work through the pattern - just send me an email at lilamonsterp@yahoo.com and I will do my best to help! (Email is the fastest way to get a response - please don’t message me here or add a question comment to my patterns as I am not on Ravelry daily and may not see it for a long time - thanks!)
