Skill Level: Beginner
Size: One Size (about 6 x 67 in.)
Pattern: Garter with stockinette
Materials: Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Yarn:
1 ball each of Navy, Red, and White
Needles: US 8/5.5mm

Pattern Notes:

  1. All odd rows (RS – right side) are knit. The even rows (WS – wrong side) are where you will purl to create the embossed stockinette lettering.
  2. The embossed letters of this pattern are worked following charts. Read RS rows (white) of charts from right to left and WS rows (green) from left to right.
  3. The letters “A” and “U” must be knit mirror image (horizontally) at the end of the scarf. The letter “S” is already a perfect mirror image of itself, which is why there is only 1 chart for it.
  4. Each garter stitch ridge equals 2 rows of knitting.
  5. Each block is made up of 18 ridges (36 rows)
