Ptolemy is a simple textured cowl. My “twist” in these designs is a knitting 2 or 3 strands held together, but of course you can just use DK/worsted instead.

The possibilities are endless. You can think of different sets of yarn weight, colors, merino vs. silk and solid vs. variegated yarns, to create your very own. Be careful to choose a needle size, too. It will create different texture; firm or fluffy.

During the pandemic year 2020, I have read several books about Alexander the Great. Ptolemy is one of the most trusted high-ranking officers, who survived after Alexander’s death and became pharaoh of Egypt.
