I created this pattern as a tribute to my beloved dog Puff, who passed away this past fall and would have turned 12 this month. Fittingly, it features the puff stitch -- and since she was a Pomeranian, there are also plenty of pompoms.

This neckwarmer/hat is fully convertible -- it can be worn with the drawstring loose, as a neckwarmer, or you can pull the drawstring tight and tie off the ends to wear it as a hat.

The yarn shown is Noro Kirara, but since that yarn’s discontinued, I’ve suggested other self-striping yarns that would look good. That said, you could totally make this in a solid color if that’s your fancy!

There are extensive notes (and more pics) in the pattern, which is a FREE Ravelry download.

If you like this pattern, or any of my free patterns, and feel like giving back, I would love it if you would consider a donation to the Center for Companion Animal Health at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Doctors trained by and/or affiliated with UCD made a big difference in Puff’s life, and I am grateful for their compassion and expertise.
