Soon the fields will be ripe with pumpkins in all shapes and sizes ready for the picking! To celebrate this Harvest-Time tradition, I have designed the Pumpkin Pickin’ Shawlette which showcases a beautiful pumpkin and vine cable ribbing at the border, and also down the center of the body of the shawlette. It is knit from the bottom up, and is crescent shaped, which is constructed using short rows. I used a medium weight yarn to be extra cozy to chase away autumn chills (2 skeins or 420 yards in Malabrigo’s Merino Wool Worsted in the shade of Golden Ochre…this shade has been discontinued but there are many other worsted weight yarns available in pumpkin). A DK weight yarn would also work well in this pattern, as long as it has enough loft to show off the cables well, since I designed it to be extra-long. The shawlette you see pictured is over 7 feet in length and 14 inches at its center, deepest point. Full written directions and charts are included in the pattern. I have also included links to videos for the stitches used within the pattern since they are slightly more advanced in technique.
