The story of the Purple Caramel is a story of experimenting. I love, love purple and I love unusual color combinations, so I took my time to find a perfect contrast color to my vivid purple yarn. The intense contrast of colors needed a solid background, so I decided to find a pattern that allows the colors to show themselves. The body of the shawl is very simple, as I felt that the stripes that are determined by mathematical sequences give enough detail to keep interest. Once I reached the lace border, the whole project gained speed. The yarn was a great choice too: a luxurious unplied single merino & silk yarn, wonderfully soft and warm.

Purple Caramel is a simple top down shawl knitted with two contrasting colors. The size and the textured body gives warmth, the beaded lace border and picot edging adds some feminine touch. Even though using pearls might sound frightening, the lace is simple enough for a beginner who is looking for challenges.
