"This garment begins with a simple 2x2 rib fabric. The cast-on edge remains insignificant when worked in the same color, as on the body pieces. Your attention is drawn to it once you introduce a contrasting color. It becomes a feature. I used this effect for the cast-on edge of the sleeves. The I-cord trim added to this foundation reflects the root of the piece, and also references the gnarled roots of an old tree."
