Quasar is a simple lace shawl designed to show off those gorgeous skeins of variegated yarn that you just aren’t sure what to do with but that are too pretty to keep in the skein. It is knit in one piece from the center-top outward. With both charts and written instructions, knitters are able to choose the most comfortable way to follow the pattern. It can easily be customized by changing the number of repeats of chart 2 to make the shawl larger or to use a different weight yarn. If you would like a longer edging, chart 3 can be modified by adding repeats or additional rows.

Approx. 450 yards of fingering weight yarn – Testers used anywhere from 367 to 425 yards, depending on gauge

Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Stitch markers for marking center stitch and edgings

1 size 6 (4.0 mm), 24-inch circular or longer if preferred for fingering weight yarn

Finished Size
55” across the top by 27” down spine

22 sts/32 rows = 4 inches in stockinette on size 6 needles with fingering weight yarn

Exact gauge is not important but do note that a looser gauge will result in the use of more yardage
