This is the 3rd pattern in the Eleanor of Aquitaine Sock Club

Joan of England was the daughter of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry II. She grew up learning how to be a wife and became Queen of Sicily upon her first marriage to William II of Sicily. When William died she was put under house arrest by his cousin Tancred. Richard I (her favorite brother) arrived and demanded her release along with every penny from her dowry. Tancred refused and Richard seized property nearby and spent that winter attacking and subduing Messina in Sicily.

Once she was released Richard then considered having her married to Al-Adil to be the joint ruler of Jerusalem, which was opposed by high ranking priests and would have caused Richard to be excommunicated from the Christian Church.

Joan eventually married Raymond VI, Count of Toulouse. She was determined to counter injuries that had been inflicted on her husband by numerous magnates and knights who hated him and she took up arms against them.

This is a very ribbed and stretchy pattern. It would work best with lighter variegated yarn, tonals, semi-solids, solids, speckled. It’s a very forgiving pattern for busy yarns.
