Suitable for confident beginners, this unisex round-necked vest with front buttoning is worked as a single piece on circular needles, without any seams.

The stitch design, which is charted, features a variety of traditional gansey stitch patterns in various knit and purl combinations, including anchors, trees and starfish, and is finished with ribbed bands at hem, armholes, neck and fronts.

Worked in a hand dyed British 5-ply pure wool yarn, it makes an ideal extra layer over shirts and sweaters. Kits for this design are available from our website here - custom orders are welcome for your choice of colour.

Finished Chest/Bust Sizes - designed to be worn with approximately 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inches) of positive ease:

Small: 97 cm (38 inches)
Medium: 108.5 cm (42.75 inches)
Large: 120.5 cm (47.5 inches)
Extra Large: 132 cm (52 inches)

I’ve also knitted a colourblock version in a standard 4-ply yarn, which is an option for those who don’t like to work with the guernsey 5-ply. Full details in my project page here.

Errata:
v1.0
There is an error on page 2 in the Increase row after completion of the ribbed band at the waist, which has been corrected in v1.1:
It should read: Rib 11 (10 : 9 : 8), m1, rib 6 (7 : 8 : 9) to last 11 (10 : 9 : 8) sts, m1, rib 11 (10 : 9 : 8)
