Knit a textured kerchief, or customize your own shawl! This simple triangle can be knit up in your own sportweight handspun for a result like the sample, or made with one skein of Malabrigo Yarn Arroyo or a similar soft sport-ish weight substitution.

With top-down construction and an easy pattern repeat built in, you can easily make a larger shawl if you’ve got more yarn. Meanwhile, if you prefer the small project, the eyelets give you an option to add buttons if you like to wear kerchiefs that way.

Materials:

  • One skein or about 250-300 yards of Malabrigo Yarn Arroyo
  • 1 24-48” circular needle in US4-6/3.25-4.0mm, or size needed for gauge.
  • Tapestry needle
  • 1 2.25mm (or size to suit yarn) crochet hook for cast on
  • Removable stitch marker

Gauge:
Gauge is 18 sts and 30 rows over 4”/10cm of blocked stockinette stitch, worked flat. Please be sure to check your gauge!

Measurements:
As shown, this kerchief measures 16”/41cm deep through the center spine, and about 36”/91cm across the wingspan. It’s easy to customize with more yarn and additional repeats if you’d like to make this into a larger shawl.
