Pattern Notes
This group of patterns is based on quilt motifs. The history of quilting like most of craft work done by women is hard to trace to exact sources, let alone the designer themselves. The Victoria and Albert museum traces quilts back to the 1200’s to 1300’s. My mother’s mother is an amazing hand quilter and I originally started the Tree of Life socks which are based off of a quilt she made. I have selected four quilt motifs most of which are from the early to mid 1800’s. The National Museum of American History is a great resource for historical quilts and I have linked each motif that I have used to an historical quilt.

These socks are two color, knit in the round, cuff down with a heel flap and wedge toe. Feel free to choose your own heel and toe method.
