A quick knit, the Rachel Beanie was inspired by my second sister’s second daughter, Rachel.

Knit in one piece, beginning with a bias garter stitch edged with I cord brim. The crown is knit in short rows directly onto the brim. Close the crown seam with either Kitchener’s Stitch or 3 needle bind off. Instructions are included if you prefer to knit in two pieces and sew the crown to the brim.

Once you buy the pattern, you’ll need:

Size 2 and 4 knitting needles
Sports weight yarn, approx 40 grams, approx 155 yards
Waste yarn scrap in sport weight
3.5mm crochet hook
2 to 4 buttons, approx 1”
Yarn needle for Kitchener’s Stitch (optional)
