I made my first rag rug in 1992 and LOVE LOVE LOVED the result. My first project was a room sized circular rug made from old wool skirts. We sat on that rug for years. It vacuumed off and everyone who saw it loved it. It was custom sized for a room with many windows. Now it is in the sun porch of our new house.

I taught this class on recycled rag rugs for years at the local community college and thought I would share the booklet I created for this class.

It has tips on selecting materials, colors and of course an easy way to cut the strips from new or used material. The gauge and fabric counts are estimates only as each person may choose the size of strips and size of rug to create.

If you print the pages back to back, you will have a 12-page booklet to use in creating your own rag rugs.

I hope you love crocheted rugs as much as I do…
