An extra-warm, double-knitted scarf and matching hat in the colours of the rainbow. Try out your double-knitting and stranded techniques and keep those rainclouds away. The scarf is knitted back and forth on two needles, the hat in the round. The tension above is for the scarf. The tension for the hat is 7.5 sts and 8 rounds over 1” (2.54 cm) of stocking stitch using 3.75 mm DPNs.

Scarf: You will need 12 x 50 g balls of DK wool: 2 each of red, orange, yellow, green, light blue and dark blue.
Hat: You will need 6 x 50 g balls of DK wool: 1 each of red, orange, yellow, green, light blue and dark blue.

The finished scarf is 18 centimetres (7 inches) wide and 140 centimetres (55 inches) long, not including the fringes.

The small hat is 55 cm (21⅝“) in diameter, with a flat height of 20.5 cm (8⅛”). The large hat is 61 cm (24”) in diameter, with a flat height of 21 cm (8¼“).

The scarf sample is knitted using Moda Vera 8 ply, the hat using Morris & Sons Estate 8 ply, but the pattern also provides suggestions for Debbie Bliss Rialto DK and Schachenmayer Merino Extrafine 120.
