This slouchy hat is available in 3 sizes using fingering weight yarn. I used Dalegarn Baby Ull –1 skein for each color of the Rainbow (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red), 1 skein of brown to symbolize soil (Earth), and a small amount of black for duplicate stitch on the Swallowtail Caterpillars (symbolizing transformation). Yes…this is a lot of yarn, but you can make many of these hats because you will be using only a small amount of each color. You can also knit the Rainbows and Swallowtail Caterpillars Booties.
The cabled rib is a simple 4 row cable using 2 colors, green to make the Swallowtail Caterpillars, and duplicate stitch for the colorful detail when the hat is finished.
